We are delighted to invite you to book for this exclusive event – Professor Brian Cox OBE at The National Gallery Singapore.

Professor Cox obtained a first class honours degree in Physics from The University of Manchester and a PhD in High Energy Particle Physics. In 2009, he became a Professor of Particle Physics at The University of Manchester and in 2015 became The Royal Society’s Professor for Public Engagement in Science.

He has also appeared in a number of highly-acclaimed BBC series, looking into the science of everything – the cosmos, the Earth, and life itself.

Professor Cox will give the audience an insight into his work in science communication and his time at Manchester.

The event will be held at The National Gallery, 1 St. Andrew’s Road, Singapore, 178957. The timings for the evening are as follows (all timings are approximate):

6pm – Welcome and registration
6.30pm – Professor Brian Cox will begin the discussions
7.15pm – Q&A with the audience
7.30pm – Buffet served with wine, beer and soft drinks

‘In Conversation’ with the President, Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dame Nancy Rothwell and 2010 Nobel Prize Laureate (Physics) Professor Sir Andre Geim

More than 100 alumni members of The University of Manchester and Manchester Business School attended the prestigious networking event on April 4, 2016 at the Fullerton Hotel.

Mr Tang Hian Seng, President of the University of Manchester Alumni Association of Singapore, facilitated the dialogue session with Professor Dame Nancy Rothwell and Professor Sir Andre Geim. Discussions topics ranged from future plans of the university in promoting research and development, importance of the Singapore alumni association to university’s strategic plan on engagement with alumni to matters closer to the heart on university and Dame Nancy as well as Sir Andre’s personal takes of his winning the Nobel Prize award. The dialogue session ended with a Question and Answer session with members of the audience.

This was followed by a dinner reception and a vibrant networking session amongst alumni members.

‘In conversation’ with the President & Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dame Nancy Rothwell and Nobel Prize winner Professor Sir Andre Geim

We are delighted to invite you to join us for this prestigious event taking place on Monday 4th April 2016.

Professor Dame Nancy Rothwell has been President and Vice-Chancellor of The University of Manchester since 2010. She was elected Fellow of the Royal Society in June 2004 and made Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire in June 2005, in recognition of her services to science. She also co-Chairs the Prime Minister’s Council for Science and Technology and is a Deputy Lieutenant for Greater Manchester.

Professor Sir Andre Geim won the Nobel Prize for Physics in 2010 for the ground-breaking discovery of wonder material graphene. He was also awarded the Copley Medal in 2013 for “numerous scientific contributions and, in particular, for initiating research on two-dimensional atomic crystals and their artificial heterostructures” and the Niels Bohr Medal in 2011 for “outstanding contributions to the development of physics”, among many other awards. He holds Kinghthoods from the Netherlands (C.N.L. 2010) and the UK (Kt 2012).

The event will be held in the Straits Room, The Fullerton Hotel, 1 Fullerton Square, Singapore, 049178. The ‘In conversation’ will begin at 6:30pm (please aim to arrive for 6pm) and a standing buffet reception will be served at 8pm.

Event update: The Secret to Finding Your Roadmap to Authentic Success – How you can Unleash Your Full Human Potential

On the 3rd of February 2016, our alumni committee member Alex Chan, who is also an Amazon Bestseller Author and Entrepreneur, gave a talk on the topic of “The Secret to Finding Your Roadmap to Authentic Success – How you can Unleash Your Full Human Potential”. The event was held at a seminar room at Manchester Business School Singapore campus.

Alex shared his success stories and the personal and professional development roadmap based on his experiences. The event closed with an interactive Q&A session filled with discussions around various perceptions on the topic.
